Léa Stern is an Assistant Professor in the Finance and Business Economics Department at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington.

Her broad research interests revolve around the use of machine learning in economics. Her current research uses machine learning techniques as a tool to open up the black box of human decision making in economic contexts. Her current focus is on the role of board directors and the nomination process for selecting directors. 

She also has published work on private equity and D&O insurance.
